Safe honey bee removal & rehoming
Some frequently asked questions...
How will I know if bees have moved into my property or garden?
If you see a number of bees flying into the ground it is likely that you are looking at a bumble bee nest.
If you see flying bees entering a building it is possible they are mason bees or honey bees.
The type of colony depends on the species of bees so our first job will be to identify the type of bee that's moved in.
Please do not attempt to block the entrance to the bees...
How do you remove honey bees?
We love bees, and so wherever possible our primary aim is to extract honey bees and rehome them to a new hive in our cottage garden.
We will never use insecticides and will remove the bees with as little damage as possible to the colony. Once we have removed your bees we will transport them to their new home, relocating them where they can live happily amongst a vibrant display of flowers.
Leaving bees in a property can result in more significant problems later on. That’s because bees in between walls can experience comb damage, and honey may seep through the building leaving a smell or stain that could linger, and in turn may attract pests.
Removing bees from roof tops can be tricky, but where possible we try to remove them from the inside rather than externally to avoid the need for roof access equipment. Regardless of where we are removing bees from, it is essential to make sure that the queen is located and removed or the bees will continue to return to her after the extraction. We will offer a fixed price for the extraction of your bees, regardless of how long it takes us to find the queen and extract the bees, so that we can rehome them and preserve more bees in our ecosystem.
During the swarming season, it is common that bees move into trees and bushes as they look for a home to establish a new colony. An old queen may leave a colony as a new queen takes over. Typically half of the bees with leave the hive with the old queen.
Swarming occurs typically between April and June where bees form a group by surrounding a queen, often hanging from a branch. The bees may move spot several times as they try to find the perfect location to settle and make honeycomb.
Calling us immediately on 01590 479669 means we can assess the situation quickly and help recover the bees safely, and take them back to our garden apiary where we can provide them with a home in a hive. If you leave the bees to their own devices they may decide to move into a nearby property which would make it more difficult to recover and rehome them.
Carrying out bee extractions throughout the New Forest
Rather than call a pest controller to remove bees from your property, call Lakeside Bee Services. We do everything possible to remove bee colonies without harming the bees, and re home them so they can thrive in a new hive.
Removing bees safely from your property
Since its founding, Lakeside Bee Services has been one of the most trusted names in the local area when it comes to removing bee colonies.
Bee nests as they are sometimes referred to can be problematic if they remain without attention. The most important thing you should note is never to attempt to remove bees yourself.
The risk of being stung if you do not have the right equipment is high. It is important to bring in an expert bee remover like Lakeside Bee Services who understands bee behaviour and can assess the situation and recommend the next course of action.
We primarily support honey bee removals but last summer a good deal of work we undertook also saw us helping with problematic bumble bee nests.

Removing honeycomb & avoiding secondary problems
Even where bees have been and since vacated a property there could be problems if honeycomb remains untreated.
Leaving this nest in place attracts other pests and can result in damage to your property. Lakeside Bee Services doesn't just focus on live bee removals, we can help with this type of extraction too.
Only a professional bee remover can properly assess the exact nature of the risks and recommend how to help.
